Naples and Sicily

I use venere.com to book my hotels, but would love to know if there is a hotel in Naples that is recommended. (only staying 2 days there) and then any recommendations on hotels, b&b, and car rental in Sicily. We will be there 10 days and want to explore on our own.
Thanks

Can't wait to see responses to your question, since I am also dying to see Naples. Re Sicily, we had the trip of a lifetime there 1 1/2 yrs ago, and are planning on going back again this fall. The website we used for apartment rental (which was wonderful) was magicofsicily.com. The guide on this website also does a fantastic job, and we saw sites we never would have without him, like a "farm" that was more like an estate, with lemon/lime/olive groves, (also an agritourismo) we had lunch there, trip to Mt. Etna, and a lovely winery up in the hills near Taormina. Have a great trip!

we were in Sorrento, Positano, Pompeii and all of the others but the one we did not adventure out to was Naples and visit the town. my family was not interested going there even thought we are from there and many other places in Italy

Michelle -- try changing the title to "Naples Hotel Recommendations" and see what they come up with!
I am "snooping" on your thread because I want to go there too!

After a lot of reading, we have decided to stay in Sorrento and do day trips to Naples, Pompeii and the coast. Then travel to Sicily by ferry.

We stayed at Hotel Cavour in Naples for three nights last year. You can check it out at booking.com. or tripadvisor. The reviews are excellent and awful but we had a good experience. The hotel is located in Piazza Garibaldi near the train station. They have an onsite restaurant where we ate our dinners and breakfast is included with the room. We had a room with a terrace and a great view. Many will say that Garibaldi is unsafe but we didn't feel so. Granted, we were not out at night. The hotel staff were friendly as were the other guests, the food was great, and the room was comfortable and clean. We would stay there again.
