We are a group of four and we will be in Naples this October 26th to 30th. We are looking for recommendations for a private tour guide for the historic sites, a food tour and a cooking class. We are also looking private tour guide for Herculeanum. Also any restaurant recommendations and best pizza.
Many trips to Napoli and never did a private tour but I can recommend a pizza making class through Viator. It was a lot of fun.
No clue on tours or cooking classes.
Restaurants
- Pizzeria Starita: best pizza I had
- Diego Vitagliano Pizzeria: amazing crust, little more upscale and incredibly good.
- 50 Kalò: Great pizza as well
- La Riviera Di Parthenope: really great seafood and service is A+.

We will be using her services for a Pompeii tour
And a Napoli local tour.
We were in Naples over spring break and really enjoyed the Secret Food Tour of Naples. We were a group of eight with adult foodies, teenagers, and a pescatarian, and everybody was happy! I would recommend doing this one in the evening; too much food for lunchtime!
We are headed to Naples in May and will be doing food tours with Streaty Food Tours We used them for two tours in Palermo and one tour in Catania on our previous trip to Sicily. All three were fantastic and very different. Would highly recommend.
I ate pizza twice in Naples at the 2 "top" spots in the RS guide. I had better pizza in Rome, Salerno and Venice. The restaurant I went back to was da Carmine a family-style, low-key, place where you expect to see more locals than tourists (at least 8 years ago). Then it was only open for about 2-3 hours for lunch and then 2-3 hours for dinner. I didn't do any organized touring. I used the RS self-guided tours which were very good. At Herculaneum, I used their audio guide and it was all I needed. Sorry I can't be of more help.
My other advice is to cross streets in the middle, not at corners. Traffic lights and stop signs are mere suggestions for local drivers. At least in mid-block you can see the traffic coming at you.
Chani, your very good advice made me smile. I will add that once you start do not hesitate. The Vespas will zoom around you. Or as Rick Steve suggest cross with a local.
