Hello,I can't believe the anxiety I am experiencing over my one day in Naples!! We will have 8 hours to explore this city that I have wanted to visit, forever. From the train station, where do I head first? Do I catch a metro to start Rick Steves walk from the Archeological Museum? I feel like the walk would give a good tour, has anyone done it? I would also like to take the funicular to Vomero also would like to walk along the Lungomare. Does anyone have a specific route that will take me through the must see sites? Should I start walking from the train station, if so, where to first? I appreciate any advice or ideas any of you would have! Thank you!
Wandering on and around Spaccanapoli is quintessential. The RS guidebook has a very good walk route with sights to see around that. Eight hours isn’t a while lot, so I’d stick with that. With time spent in the Archeological Museum and a couple breaks for meals, the day will fly.
Should I start walking from the train station, if so, where to first
No, jump on the metro and take it to closer to where you want to go. Naples is big and the area around the train station isn't great. What I would do is take the metro to the Duomo or Universita stop and then walk uphill a few blocks until you hit Spaccanapoli. Via Tribunali is a couple of blocks further uphill and is where the famous Gino E Toto Sorbillo is located (cheapest Michelin star meal you will ever eat). Best pizza I've ever had in my life
I don't know what the Rick walk consists of but it's probably not a bad way to go
I would take the metro to the Dante stop. From there it is a short walk to the Archeological Museum or Spaccanapoli, the Duomo, the veiled Christ, other interesting sights/areas, and some great restaurants. You can see a lot in eight hours.
If you want to see the Veiled Christ, reserve entry now. It's been selling out a week in advance.
Yes, take the metro. Our hotel was near the train station; good to skip that immediate area.
Thank you, everyone! I feel better now.
The proper metro stop for the Archeological Museum is the Museo stop. You are half a block from the front door. I am staying nearby at a B & B in early May.
Yes, and since the museum is somewhat uphill from most of the places a one-day visitor would go, I'd recommend starting there so you can later walk downhill--unless you have a specific reason to schedule something else first.
Hello! We are planning a trip to Naples too! With only 2 days (1 full day) we're planning on visiting the Archeological Museum or Spaccanapoli, the Duomo, the veiled Christ...shopping...and PIZZA! I just posted to the Naples Forum asking for some hotel advice, so please do let me know if any of you have some fab hotel "finds" centrally located...mostly to the museum 🇮🇹 #KeepOnTraveling!
Hello, we are first time cruisers and we will be in Naples on October 11th. We might have eight-nine hours at our disposal, not including the disembarking and back on the ship, time.
We would appreciate any tips to make the best of Naples, that can be offered. Thank you!
This map will help you navigate Napoli. It shows the attractions, bus #s and the direction they go (arrows) and the metro lines. Enlarge and print to take with you.
Know which attractions you want to see before, then use a reasonable route.

From the port, the easiest route to the centro storico is to follow the crowds across the street.
From the train station, cross into Piazza Garibaldi to the metro and go downstairs.
Use either Metro Museo or Dante for quick access to Spaccaponapoli.
Daily tickets for day visit are very inexpensive and save you time stoping for another ticket
