My Coloseum Tickets have no Reservation Date

I just purchased 4 Colosseum tickets on their website and printed the tickets effortlessly. However, there is no reservation date on them, just the date of purchase. Are they reserved for my September date? If so, how do they track how many tickets they for for future dates if they don't know the dates of redemption until redeemed? Did I forget something when I booked them? I understand that they only let 3000 in at a time. Are the lines huge even at 8:30AM with tickets in hand?

If you purchased general-entry tickets - no tours - then they don't have dates or times on them. You can use them to visit the Colosseum and Forum/Palatine on any two consecutive days between now and the end of December. Your pre-purchased tickets allow you to skip the ticket lines at the Colosseum - which are the longest - but not the security queues, which move faster.

You can visit all three sites on one day or split them up over two consecutive days. The Forum and Palatine count as a single attraction and must be visited together, though: you access one directly from the other inside the secured area. This means that you can't do the Forum, leave for lunch and then come back to visit the Palatine. You can, however, do the Colosseum on one day and the Forum/Palatine the next, if wishing to split them up.

In short, you have tickets but not a reservation. But at 8:30 am the security line should not be bad at all.

Lola, entry tickets don't give you a reservation, they allow you entry at any time you wish. They are not time nor date specific and can be used at any time before the end of the year. Just show up with your tickets and gain a single entry to each of the colosseum, forum/palatine hill over the course of two consecutive days.
