My 1st Solo Europe trip Any advice/opinion about my itinerary or anything?

I am making my 1st trip to Europe alone. I have tried to keep as many of my options open for changes on the fly as I go, while still feeling secure in having places to stay, just in case. I am leaving Easter Sunday, March 23rd, 2008 and arriving in Florence on the morning of the 24th.

24th-26th Florence Staying at Ostello Santa Monaca 2 nights

26th leave Florence, spend the late-morning/afternoon in Pisa, then train to Lucca.

27th Lucca, then leave for Cinque Terre, 2 nights in a room from Elisabetta's Villino Azzuro

27th-29th CT

29th Train to Siena in A.M.

29th-31st Staying at Alma Domus in Siena

31st Leave Siena for San Gimignano staying in Hotel La Cisterna for a night

April 1st Leave Sam Gim. for Assisi staying for one night at La Pallotta

2nd Leave Assisi for Orvieto

2nd-4th in Orvieto at the Hotel Posta with a Daytrip to Civita di Bagnoregio on the 3rd

4th Leave Orvieto for Rome

4th-6th In Rome spending the night at the Casa Olmata leaving early in the A.M. on Sunday the 6th

I have been to Florence and Rome before, so I am ok with my short time in both places. I am travelling by bus and train and am trying to keep prices on the low side, with a few obvious splurges. I always wonder if I will want to spend more time in a place, so, I have allowed myself to "fall in love" with a place and stay, if I want. But, especially being by myself, I feel like I will want to keep moving. Any advice or ideas? I'd really appreciate it!

Hi Brain, it's me again.....your itinerary looks awesome. You've done your homework. You're not rushing around like a lot of the people that write on this site. I'm also going to Orvieto & Civita (maybe you can give me your highlights on them also).
Have a wonderful time!

Brian-I think your itinerary looks great. Even the one-nighters seem well thought out and you are keeping your travel time and your general distance traveled to a reasonable amount.

If I were to change anything I'd add one more night to Rome, but I like Rome (more than Florence) and since you've been there before you must have reasons for only giving it 2 nights. I've been to all the other cities you mentioned besides Orvieto and it seems you are allocating just enough time to get a feel for them.

Have a great trip!

great plan. you might ck about needed reserv for the train as it is during easter timeframe. Unfortunately that costs more.
