You’re correct, the Alibus is a good choice to travel from MXP to Verbania/Intra.
I took the Alibus from MXP to Baveno last September.

Make sure you reserve the Alibus in advance.

Yep agree with above, book early to guarantee a place.

You can also take a train.
MXP to Gallarate station -via Taxi or bus
Train from Gallarate to Verbania-Pallanza
City bus into town to Verbania (the train station is a bit out of town).
I went by train (although not from the airport) many many years ago, exactly as I described.

Just wanted to mention that at the time I found Verbania to be a bigger town than I would have liked to stay on the lake. Not saying it’s bad, or that you won’t like it, just saying that it doesn’t have a small town feel. It is more like a small city. It’s actually the urban agglomeration of 3 towns attached to one another: Verbania, Pallanza, Intra. I felt like I was in a small city, rather than a lake village.
I preferred Stresa. Some like even smaller than that. Others like bigger towns. Just wanted you to know, so that you don’t expect a small village. Then it’s up to you what you prefer.
