MXP (Milano Malpensa) to Milano Centrale

I need to get from MXP to Milano Centrale train station. I see two options --- 1) Malpensa Shuttle (Bus) and 2) Malpensa Express. Is one more convenient than the other?

The bus can get caught up in traffic. I advise against it. (Took almost 90 minutes last October at AM rush hour.) The Malpensa Express takes you to Cadorna Station, though. You can get a Trenitalia train from MXP to Centrale. At the Trenitalia site, enter Malpensa Aeroporto and Milano Centrale. That should yield the schedule. They run often, like at HH:22 and HH:43 throughout the day.

Not wrong, they finally figured out that the train from the airport should go to the train station where there was service to all the other cities in Italy. If it's not rush hour (e.g., early morning, midday), the bus may be a bit more convenient - less walking.

Hank, Depending on what time your flight arrives, I might still consider the Malpensa Shuttle. I used it last year, and the trip was about 50-minutes. Also, does your flight arrive at Terminal 1 (international flights) or Terminal 2 (flights from within Europe)? That will have a bearing on which option to choose.

Hank - I highly reccomend taking the Shuttle bus (they are all parked on one side of the train station - when you are FACING the front of the station walk to your right and you will find them). The buses leave quite regularly and they make one stop at the domestic terminal then continue on to international departures. Yes, there is traffic but in my opinion rushing around Cadorna will eat up a lot of time. Especially when you aren't familiar with the area. With luggage it's not worth it. Good luck!

I have been trying to figure that out also. I arrive in Milan at 9:30 a.m. and have tickets to the Last Supper at 1:45. Moving through the airport quickly and getting to town efficiently is imperative. It seems to me that taking the Malpensa Express to the Cadorna station and then taking the local transit to the Conciliazione station, which is one stop away, puts me about 2 blocks or so from The Last Supper. Can anyone comment if I am on the right track with this plan??

We just got back from Milan and we used the shuttle buses. Worked well. There are two companies that run buses, so you might just jump on the one that is about to leave. I understand the comments about rush hour, but it was not a factor in our travel. I don't know where the train was, but I was not looking either. My advice, take the bus.

Carrie - you could easily walk from the Cadorna station or take the metro one stop over to Conciliazione. Depending on your speed it's an easy 10 minutes by foot from the train station. If you decide to walk down from Cadorna you will take Via Boccaccio. You must stop by Chocolat (located at n.9) for a welcome to Milan gelato! The last time I was there I had the best pistachio flavored gelato of my life which they had sprinkled with sea salt. I had my doubts but I became an instant believer! Unfortunately, I haven't seen it after that one time though... naturally they also have multiple chocolate varieties :)

Is it a 10 minute walk to the Last Supper from Cadorna or from Conciliazione? If it is the former, then I will definitely walk. And I will definitely get the gelato because Pistachio is my favorite flavor!

Thanks to you all, but I'm trying to find the most direct route from MXP to Milano Centrale, not Cardona. It looks like there are two options Malpensa Express which now goes to Centrali (train) or Malpansa Bus Shuttle.

Hank,
I think things got sidetracked by Carrie's question. You summed it up correctly: Malpensa Shuttle or the (newish) train both go to Centrale. If I arrived in rush hour again, I woudl certainly take the train. The bus was a nice one, but the traffic was horrible.

We landed in Milan Malpensa at the end of April and needed to go to Centrale train station and on to Cinque Terre. We took the train to the Centrale train station and we found it very convienent and easy to find. I think they leave every 20 or 30 minutes. We would definitely take the train again.
