Sunday - also see the Villa d’Este & garden in Tivoli.

Pantheon? It’s stunning to walk over to it at night besides going through it during the day.
Trevi Fountain - a tourist stop. Toss a coin over your shoulder.
Mr. 100 Tiramisu - yum!

For Sunday the 18th, you should find Hadrian’s Villa at the edge of Tivoli interesting. Be aware that it’s a large sight. Be sure to see the remains of the outdoor theater, in addition to buildings that are some distance away. We went in September two years ago, by bus from Rome, not by train. We didn’t make it to the Villa d’Este that day. I wonder if the fountains will be running in February, or shut down for winter?

On your free day, if another fascinating ancient Roman archaeological sight would also be a must see for you, there’s Ostia Antica, what had been Rome’s port 2,000 years ago. It was buried like Pompeii, but in silt, not volcanic ash. The surviving buildings, and fabulous mosaics, are essential for fans of ancient Roman remains. You can reach it by train on your way back to Rome from Naples. We did that eleven years ago this month, and the guards let us stash our luggage at their entrance building while we visited.

Or are you flying out of Naples, not Rome? In that case, see Herculaneum, buried in the same eruption as Pompeii, but a totally different sight, worth a visit, as well!

If Rome is your first stop in Europe, I hope you'll still be awake enough at 5 PM to enjoy the Borghese Gallery. I wouldn't be.
