Hi Folks,
We will be in Rome from 4th to 9th Sep. Should we purchase the Roma Pass and activate it, since we might not be able to use it on Monday. Are there any museums open on Monday? We'll have 2 days before and 2 days after 6th Sep(Monday). Please advice if any of you have experienced it before.
I believe the Colosseum should be open Monday (along with the Forum) so you could use your pass on Monday for that.
The colosseum/forum/palatine hill and the baths of Caracalla are all open on Mondays. Also the vatican museums are open but you cannot use the romapass for them.
If you activate it on Saturday you can visit all the museums first and leave the colosseum complex and the baths of caracalla for Monday or you can activate it on Monday and do just the opposite. I would probably activate it on Saturday and spend Saturday and Sunday visiting museums with Monday spent outdoors at the colosseum complex. On Tuesday I would visit the vatican and Wednesday visit anything I missed.

Another reason to leave the Vatican visit till Tuesday is that Monday is usually very crowded, because the Vatican museums are closed on Sunday and many other sights are closed on Monday.
Thanks guys! Its great that these sites are open on Monday. Since we are there for 5 days, should we purchase 2 Roma Passes. If not, would getting day pass for the rest of 2 days be cheaper?
How many museums do you plan to see? If you don't plan to see at least 3 sites per pass it won't save you any money. Check the romapass site for a list of the sites covered by the pass and list how many you wish to see. If it's six or more then you may want to get two passes.
Just as an FYI, you get two consecutive days (during the validity of the pass) to see the colosseum combo sites. That means if you activate your pass on Saturday you can see the colosseum (or forum or palatine hill) on Saturday and see the other two on Sunday or you can see one on Sunday and the rest on Monday. You can only visit each site once but you have 2 days to do them.

The other museums aren't as expensive and are you really planning to see enough of them to justify the steep price of the Pass? Even going to the expensive ones, Colosseum & Borghese, you don't really save money, just avoid the Colosseum line.
