Museums

Thanks to all who respond,
We will be in Torino and Florence and wish to visit some of the Museums. Would like to know your recommendations on when and where to purchase tickets hopefully avoiding long lines. Should we purchase prior to travel or when in each city. Thanks for your assistance.

The answer would depend on when you are planning to travel.

If you plan to travel during summer months, it's best to book your tickets in advance, especially if you want to avoid long lines at the Accademia & the Uffizi in Florence.

Here is the website for booking your tickets: http://www.b-ticket.com/b-ticket/uffizi/default.aspx

I have not traveled to Torino so can't help you there.

Enjoy your trip!

Definitely book for the Uffizi. I would also book for the Academia. Sometimes if you go in the late afternoon, it's pretty empty and you just walk in, but you can't count on that.

We did not experience any ticket lines at all in Torino in October, 2013, including for the Egyptian Musuem (which was partly under construction at the time). If you are aiming for the free viewing of the Shroud, through June 24, then that requires reservations now.
