Museum Tickets for Teens in Florence

Hello Fellow Travelers, my family and I will be heading to Florence in early October of this year. The last time we where there was 5 years ago. At that time, I purchased 2 of the Firenze Cards for my wife and I. Our girls where 12 at the time so they where free to enter into most places including the Accademia, Uffizi, and the Duomo. All we had to do at the time was to go to where they sell the tickets and get a time for our daughters. From what I've been reading, it sounds like a lot of things have changed.

Are children under 18 still free to enter these three places? If so, and we don't buy the Card this time, using the website for each place, is there an option for children tickets?

If we decide to get the Card again, do we use the same process as last time in getting a time for our daughters or do we have to reserve a time slot ahead of time online?

Thank you

From the Firenze Card FAQs:

Are Firenzecard reduced rates available for people under 18, students
and people over 65?

No. Firenzecard at the moment only has a single
rate, the full price. There are no discounts and/or reduced rates
available. So we suggest you consult the website of each museum that
you’re interested in visiting to see if any free or discounted
entrances are available.

Raymond, much has changed since you used the Firenzecard last time. Many questions are answered on the FAQ page of the Firenzecard website.

Here's what it says about reservations for the Uffizi, Accademia and duomo cupola (the church itself is free so the card does not provide priority access):

Do I need to make reservations for the Uffizi and Accademia Gallery with Firenzecard?

Yes, you need. To enjoy the priority access is required a free reservation to make:

calling the multilingual call center Firenze Musei to phone number + 39 055-294883 (from 8.30 to 18.30 from Monday to Friday; from 8.30 to 12.30 on Saturday), providing your first and last name. Closed Sunday and holidays. You will receive by phone a code to show at the ticket offices of Orsanmichele, My Accademia and Uffizi to collect your booking confirmation. You have to show your booking confirmation and your Firenzecard at the priority access doors of the museums;

in Florence at one of the following ticket offices, showing your Firenzecard: Orsanmichele (Orsanmichele Church, Via dei Calzaiuoli, from Monday to Saturday 9.00-16.15; Closed Sunday and holidays); My Accademia (via Ricasoli n.105/r, from Tuesday to Sunday 8.15-17.30; Closed Monday); Uffizi (door n.2 and n.3, from Tuesday to Sunday 8.15-18.05; Closed Monday);

at the ticket offices of Uffizi Gallery, Bargello National Museum, Palazzo Pitti, when you purchase Firenzecard. In this case you can make directly the reservation at the ticket office at the moment of purchase and collect the booking confirmation to show at the priority access doors of the museums.

Please note that you have to make the free reservation also for the kids under 18 years old who are members of the same family unit of the Firenzecard holder.

How can I book the Cupola climb with Firenzecard?

If you want to use your Firenzecard, you can’t book the Cupola climb ahead of time online, but you have to make your reservation once you are in Florence at the ticket office in piazza San Giovanni 7, after the collection of the Grande museo del Duomo free ticket. The reservation can be made for the day you find availability. It is possible to monitor the reservation timetable for the Cupola at the following link: http://en.grandemuseodelduomo.waf.it/museo_dett.php?idtour=8484 (by clicking on "See dome schedule"-). PLEASE NOTE that, if you have not activated your Firenzecard yet with the first entrance in a museum of the Firenzecard circuit, the collection of the Grande museo del Duomo free ticket is considered to be "first entrance" and your Firenzecard will be activated (for the following 72hours).The Grande museo del Duomo free ticket is necessary in order to have access to the Grande museo del Duomo monuments, whose entrances have turnstiles. The Grande museo del Duomo free ticket can be used within 6 days from its collection; it is valid for 72 hours, starting from the first access through the turnstiles (Cupola included).
