Museum Ticket Buying.....

I am trying to buy tickets for the Accademia Gallery - Florence and Uffizi Gallery - and of course The Last Supper. I have went on the website that was recommended on here, but I am having a little trouble. I am trying to buy tickets for the 2nd week of October. Am I too early? It states on all that there are no availabilities.

Any information would be greatly appreciated,
Thank you!!

Was just there in July. Am not sure how far in advance you can book tkts. but I know that people were having trouble booking online in June and July as there were problems with the museum's website. Rick had mentioned a 3rd party booking agency but you pay more. I ended up just calling over there and booked tkts. to the Accademia and Uffizi. It was very easy and I was on hold for a very short time. Was given the booking # which we took with us to pick up the tkts. We paid for the tkts. when we picked them up 15 min. prior to our time.

I had a bit of trouble with the B-site as well, plus they don't show availability for times before noon.

It was much easier to call them to make an appointment and I got the exact times I wanted.

You pay when you get to the Uffizi or the Accademia. No need to let the third party websites profit.

I also found it more convenient to phone for the Accdemia and Uffizi - there were many more times available than on-line. It was reported a couple of days ago that the Last Supper reservations system (phone and internet) were down temporarily. No more info was available.

If you have hotel reservations in Milan, try asking your hotel to make a reservation for you for the Last Supper. A pricey alternative is to sign up for one of the city tours that includes the Last Supper.

I booked the Uffize on line with no troubles using the "B-Ticket" web site. They have three or four Florence attractions on their site that you can book.

I didn't book the Accademia as I was told that this was easy to do while we are there. However I thought better of this and tried to book into the Accademia to try to tie into another tour. I didn't have any trouble getting to the correct page to book, but for some reason they have no availablilty during any morning or evening hours. We were planning an Accademia tour on either Sept 18 or 19 but I also checked other dates and there was the same morning and evening booking problems.

We made reservations for the Uffizi and the Accademia in Florence by phoning directly for a small booking surcharge of 3 euros over the cost of admission -- much less than arranging through most 3rd parties. From US, call 01 139 055294883. With even months of advance planning, we found that no reservations for the Last Supper in Milan were available, so we ended up booking a city tour through Viator that included admission. More than we wanted to spend, but well worth it -- and the city tour was excellent.

Keep in mind that if you use b-ticket you only pay for the reservation when you get to the museum. If the ticket line is very short, buy "regular" tickets; you are not obligated to take your reserved tickets and pay the 4 euro premium.

Just to follow up on last couple of posts.

When I booked the Uffizi I was charged at the time of my booking and recieved a email confirmation complete with confirmation numbers, etc.

Maybe they have changed the way they charge for the reservations?

Thanks

Lisa - Our hotels in Italy were very willing to book the day/time that we need at most museums and simply emailed me the reservation confirmation number. Had no problems! Have fun!

I decided to do all of those with a guided tour. I had only one possible time in both Milan and Florence so I thought that would be best. The tours all include other aspects. Milan, a walking tour, for example. They all allow additional time in the museums. I will be there the same time as you.

A tip for families, especially those staying more than a week - you can become a "Friend of the Uffizi" for 100 euro for a family of four:

http://www.amicidegliuffizi.it/become_a_member.aspx

You can do this at the welcome desk when you get to Florence:

http://www.amicidegliuffizi.it/en_welcome_desk.aspx

With this card you get into all of the below - and - you do not need reservations - just show your card at the head of the line at the Uffizi!

Galleria degli Uffizi (entrance n. “2”)

Galleria dell’Accademia

Palazzo Pitti

Galleria Palatina

Galleria dell’Arte Moderna

Chiostro dello Scalzo

If you are here for week or more this is a great deal.

Doug, I reserved thru b-ticket by telephone in Sept 2008 for Oct 2008 and only paid in person when I picked up the tickets at the Accademia and the Uffizi. If this has changed, it would be good to know.

Hey Lisa, I have had the exact same problem with booking in October. I got an email from the museum help desk, saying that starting in September, times for October will be available online to book. For those of us who dont have cheap international calling available, online booking is the best option, so I'm waiting until then to book my tickets in october. Hope this helps.
