Is it necessary to book a tour? Or do we just take a boat over and walk around? Going June 7, 2 people.
Thank you
My experience has been that there will be brochures at your hotel, offering a tour. Further, when I did it, at no charge whatsoever, a water taxi came to the hotel and took us out to the island, directly to a glassblowing facility. A great tour and demonstration. After that you exited - no surprise - through the facility’s sales room. Beautiful displays of the shop’s excellent work. And no pressure at all to buy anything. You could simply walk through the shop and straight out the door, as some people did. The shop, however, was worth a bit of time just to view the displays even if not interested in a purchase.
We were on our own to get back to the city. Easily done - we took the water bus to Piazza San Marco. Inexpensive.
Certainly Murino warrants some time to wander, have a meal and treat yourself to a gelato.
