Murano Wine Glasses in Rome??

Does anyone know where I can get wine glasses like these in Rome?

I do not know but wanted to say that those are beautiful!

I agree with Kathy on both counts. I do have a suggestion that just might work: Put that photo on your phone and show it to staffers at every Rome tourist office you walk past. You might get lucky since those glasses are very distinctive.

Not Murano glass? I bought them on the island of Murano from a glass factory. They are stamped on the bottom. The pic in the website I linked is from pinterest I think but mine look exactly like that and are legitimate. I just wanted a few more but won't be back to Venice this time...just Rome.

Not everything you buy on Murano is true Murano glass.

Read the description on the website where the glasses are sold--the glasses are manufactured in Tuscany, and then handpainted in Venice.

The company is Due Zeta ("2 Z's"). If you go to their website, they describe themselves as makers and "decorators" of Murano glass.

Please do not feel disappointed. You bought the glasses on Murano, and you like them. (Personally I find them much more attractive than the ornate and weirdly-shaped Murano glass goblets I saw everywhere).

And now you know where you can buy more, if you cannot find them in Rome.

Karen, they are beautiful. I would be upset if they were made in China and sold in Venezia.

I agree with Lola that everything sold on Murano is not authentic Murano glass and much of it is from China. It sounds like you did get something made in Italy and it is pretty glassware.

For future reference, here is a website that describes how to know you have authentic Murano glass.
http://www.muranoglass.com/en/

The key is "certifies that products have been made on the island of Murano, according to glass making tradition" and while your glass may have been made in Italy or even Murano, it is not according to the glass making tradition. Still beautiful and something to enjoy!

Well, I knew that everything on Murano is not Murano glass and could be made in China. I was very careful to make sure I avoided that. But I am happy to know that what I purchased was made in Italy. They are beautiful and very heavy and of good quality! I only bought two this summer but find myself wishing I had bought 2-4 more. They were a very good price....about 15 Euro each. If anyone had seen anything like this in Rome, please let me know, as I will be there soon. Thanks, everyone!

Side note---the website link I included is not where I bought my glasses. That was just a pic I found online to show readers what I was looking for.

I saw a set of four in our Goodwill this past week. The had a made in Italy stamp but no brand. I will swing by in the day or two to see if they are still there. Maybe I can photo and send it to you.

The €15 should have been a clue that they were not handmade on Murano. The hand-blown glasses made in the Vetri there cost far more---but like Lola I do not find those glasses attractive, just garish. Yours are much more graceful and attractive. I might even order some myself from the website!

I am curious what the stamp on the bottom says. Apparently the "real Murano Glass" says Vetro Artistico Murano or something like that.

Sasha, the bottom of my glasses read "Zecchin Style Murano Made in Italy." Does that mean anything to anyone?

That is the name of the company---CC Zecchin--- now called Due Zeta. Some information here:

http://www.limoneimports.com/category-s/2158.htm

Note that on this website you can buy your wineglasses individually, not as a set of 6. $27 each. This is a NewbYork company.

And here is the Due Zeta website:

http://www.duezeta.net/en/venetian-glass.html

It appears from the video and the text that they may make their jewelry on Murano. But "fancy glassware" is a separate category from Murano glass" on the website.
