Hi,
I am a little confused on how to get to Murano Island using the Vaporreto lines. If I want to visit Rialto Bridge first, is there a line to go to Murano from that stop?
Also, can anyone recommend a glass factory worth visiting on Murano and a good store to buy some inexpensive gifts?
Thank you.
The water bus service works like a city bus system. Look at this map to see what lines go to Murano and from where. You validate your ticket on the dock and wait for the next boat going there, and jump on. The schedules are elsewhere on the website, http://www.actv.it/sites/default/files/ultimamappa.pdf
Boats to Murano do not go from the Rialto docks. It might be easiest to walk across the island to Fondamente Nove where the most frequent service goes from, or take the No 1 or 2 boat to Ferrovia and take the 4.x or 5.x boats also go to Murano.
I can highly recommend the studio of Giorgio Bruno. He has items in all price ranges, and is a little off-the-beaten in Murano. Say "hi" to Cindy the dog if you go!
Agree with Laurel. Everything is made by him there and is beautiful. If you go into a store and look for inexpensive it is probably made in China.
You can find small pieces made in Murano that are inexpensive, I sometimes buy small glass animals for children's gifts (although I like them, too).
