I love all things glass. Two years ago, we had the free motorboat ride from the hotel to Murano, in the heavy rain, and unfortunately found that many shops were closed. It was a Tuesday. Originally I thought the shops were closed due to the bad weather. Upon some research, I'm finding that many glass shops are closed on Tuesdays. I was planning on going to Murano on a Tuesday in May, 2025. Does anyone have any background on this? I still have a few business cards , from previous purchases on Murano, and am emailing the shop owners, regarding open hours.
Anyone have any insights? I realize this is a very esoteric question.
Thanks so much!
I just went to google maps and searched "Murano glass". I then randomly clicked the glass factories and shops and checked their hours of operation in "About". They all seem to be open on Tuesday.
Funpig, thanks. Maybe it was the weather that kept the shop owners closed on my last trip.
I wouldn't be surprised if some really small shops make spur-of-the-moment decisions about closing early when business is really slow, which it might be on a day with unpleasant weather; it's a bit risky to plan to do important shopping in the last half hour or so before closing time. I wouldn't expect Tuesday closures as a regular thing.
