Multigenerational Summer Trip Ideas

Hello! I’m thinking about my wishlist for a multigenerational Italy summer trip in August 2025. We have plenty of time but I want to start researching, because this may be tricky!!

There will be 10 of us, with grandparents, parents, and 4 kids ranging in age from 1.5 to 15.

We would like to find a nice villa or home to base ourselves for a week. Somewhere scenic (maybe near water?), since the parents with baby & toddler will spend a lot of time at the house. But also somewhere not totally remote, so the teen and tween don’t go crazy!

It would be great to not have to rely on a car for everything, though we likely will rent one. So walkable to a town would be awesome, and a train station even better for some exploring. This will let the grandparents have some independence as they won’t drive on their own.

We are leaning toward the northern part of the country (Tuscany and up) but not ruling anything out at this point. Very open to any and all ideas- and if you have a specific property to recommend that’s great too!

Thank you!!

We had a large multi-age family group and contacted an agency in Panzano, chianti-and-more.com. Karin Dietz took care of finding the perfect villa for us.
We rented a villa in Panzano, one of the Chianti villages between Siena and Florence. The teens could walk into town! Lots of bedrooms, nice kitchen and a large patio with views of the Chianti vineyards. And the best feature after a day of touring, a large pool ,also with views of the vineyards.
