We are doing a day trip to Pompeii, while there is it worthwhile to go to the top of Mt. Vesuvius and how do you do that from Pompeii? Thank you!!

From Pompei Scavi train station on the Circumvesuviana line, you can catch a bus that takes about 3 hours roundtrip. Two companies there from which to choose and you'll probably go with whichever is departing next. If you have Rick's Italy book, see more on p. 1067.

Laura can you describe that a bit more? Is it 1.5 hours of travel time each way, or does that 3 hours allow for hiking/visiting time?
