I will be in Naples area in September. I have a car and want to drive to Mt Vesuvius and hike to the top from the parking lot. I need driving direction.
And as a side note, never put all your eggs in one basket....Italian driving directions frequently leave something to be desired. Nothing is foolproof, but maybe back it up with a quick search for directions on www.google.com/maps We drove up Mt. Vesuvius about 5 years ago (be ready for two-lane road and lots of hairpin turns), but couldn't hike because it was too late in the day when we arrived, but it was a misty day on the mountain anyway, so I'm not sure if the hike would have been worth it in terms of visibility. Nevertheless, it was easy to find our way simply by following the road signs(without a map, driving directions or GPS, I might add) when we drove there. We were staying in Sorrento and had visited Paestum that day, also.
