Mt. Etna Tour

My family and I are going to be in Sicily during the month of June. We want to do a trip to Mt. Etna. We will be staying in Taormina and do not have a car. Does anyone have any information, suggestions, or recommendations of Etna tour companies to use? Thanks for your response.

Our hotel keeper sold us a bus tour from Taormina to Etna. The pick-up point (one of them , I suppose) was close to the hotel. Ask at your hotel or the TI.

Having your hotel arrange it would be the easiest thing.

Hi Mario,
When we were in Sicily during our shore excursion from Messina port, we used the following tour company: http://www.sicily-tours.it/ and we had Carmelo (he said very typical sicilian name) as our driver! We had a fantastic tour due to his expertize driving through the small villages of the area and up to the Etna! I highly recommend them!

I have notes for our travel. Of course all the towns will have companies with tours of Mt.Etna. What type of experience are you seeking? Hiking, Archaelogical interest, Lava Fields, 4 x 4 ride....
These companies give in depth tours and excursions of Mt. Etna: Just look at Tripadvisor for their reviews and websites. Etna Experience Excursions, Etna People, Legendary Sicily. Enjoy!

LegendofSicily.com also has tours, several posters have recommended it in the past.

I've done tours twice with Legendofsicily.com Private car, and they make a great day trip out of it, including a Vineyard. We loved it! Tell Claudio that Donna says "HI" Their English is perfect, and they've got good commentary and a great sense of humor! Warm and friendly. If you don't want to see the Vineyard, they will be flexible and add some other fascinating site.

How many of you are traveling? If your "family" is more than 3, I'm guessing you could hire a private guide for not much more than bus tour tickets would cost. You should check that out. I booked an Etna tour with Legend of sicily yesterday, for my husband and I. For two people, it's a bit of a splurge but it includes a vineyard tour, and a stop for lunch, and sounds like an amazing day. They are very responsive -- I heard back from the very charming Angelo at Legend of Sicily within hours. So I'd recommend contacting them (or other tour companies) for an estimate. If you decide to stick with a bus tour, you could probably arrange that when you arrive.
