Anyone have one? I borrowed one from a friend - she bought it when she was in Barcelona so the instruction manual is in Spanish. She emphasized to me that when I get the sim card - I need to make it clear I want "without contract". I assume this will be simple. Anyone know the best place to pick one up when I get to Rome? I don't plan to use the phone much - just to get in touch with family if we separate during the day.

SIM cards in Italy are usually sold without a contract, it's pay as you go. You'll need to show your passport to buy the SIM. Find one at any phone store and then buy more minutes at tobacco stores.
