Mount Etna

Hello,
If we are driving to Mount Etna and plan to go to the summit using the cable car, is there enough time in one day to go to the north slope and go to some of the wineries? I have read that you need to call the wineries the day before you plan to taste. Does anyone know if this is the case?

Mount Etna is erupting right now, according to the news. You might want to see if that would affect your plans. I have no idea if it would, but you say you're going to the summit, and it's erupting right now.
