I know this is a very broad question but...what was your favorite restaurant in Rome?
Filetti di Baccala ( Filet of Cod fish ). This small restaurant is of the Campo di Fiori in a smaller square. It's not easy to find but well worth it. Believe it or not there were real Romans waiting by the kitchen for their piece of fried Cod wrapped in a napkin to take out. And a good mixture of locals and travelers in the restaurant. It's not a fancy restaurant nor an expensive one. We ordered almost everything on the menu and shared it between us. We really enjoyed our whole experience and hope you do to.
ps; I hope you love Pizza, it seemed to us that every restaurant in Rome was a Pizza restaurant. I love Pizza, but come on?
My favorite this last trip in March was The Library. Amazing food in a pretty setting. I thought it was fairly reasonable for the quality of the food too. It's always full so book it as early as possible. We also ate at Il Convivio Troiani which is one of the few Michelin starred places in town. It was definitely memorable but in a mixed way: awesome food and terrible service. You can read my review and several others on TA on this one. We even had a very good meal in an outdoor cafe in front of the Pantheon. The view made up for the value of the food. TA is a great source for picking a restaurant. I used it and Slowtrav to map out our "eating across Italy" vacation.
Thank you very much for the reply but maybe I am just on vacation planning overload but what is TA?
Ok....I am on vacation planning overload! I get it now- trip advisor. Sorry
Trattoria Vecchia Roma - hands down! http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187791-d1584357-Reviews-Trattoria_Vecchia_Roma-Rome_Lazio.html
Our favorites: Armando near Pantheon; Ditirambo near Campo Fiori; Perilli on Via Marmoratta. Giggettos near Teatro Marcello is fun for lunch and people watching.
ROSCIOLI!!! We stopped there for a mozzarella sampler and liked it so much we went back for dinner on our last night in Rome. AWESOME!
In fact, we like it so much it is going to be our first dinner in Rome when we return in October!
Roma Sparita for Cacio e Pepe (Watch Anthony Bourdain episode in Rome). Cul de Sac, just south of P.za Navona for great selection of wine and fine, reasonably priced Roman cuisine.
