If you put more detail in your question, you will get better responses. You should include where you plan to be, as it is pointless for someone to post about a beach in Sardinia that you will not be anywhere near.
@valadelphia, I was going to suggest Sardinia. There were some beautiful beaches and memorable sunsets.
Where and also when is your trip?
I love Italy, but my experience with its beaches were not good. Of course, northern and central Italy do not have nice beaches.
Frankly, if you want great places for the beach, consider the Greek Islands. Not sure where you are traveling from, but if it is the USA, then stick with California or Florida.
Sardinia and perhaps Mallorca have nice beaches.
Is this the same trip? If so, looks like there are all sorts of important details to consider versus just a nice beach? As much information as you can provide, the better people can help you. :O)
the question as asked in the other thread is for near a particular town in Abruzzo, near the central Italy Adriatic coast for a mixed age family party of 10.
With over 8,000 km (5,000 miles) of coastline, Italy has plenty of great beaches, therefore no need to go to Greece or to the Florida, if you plan to visit Italy and want to see a beach.
However consider that most people who travel to Italy from North America, including most in this forum, do not travel to where the best beaches are, and often travel solely by train and buses, while many of the most scenic beach locations can be reached only by car. Therefore a forum that caters to North American travelers may not be the best to search for that type of information. Let’s face it, most Americans who go to Italy do not go there to visit beach locations, with the exception of maybe the Amalfi Coast and a few more places. They can find beaches closer to home. And since many are bound by wherever the trains stop, they only see cityscapes.
The best beaches are in the islands and in southern Italy. If this is the same trip mentioned in your previous post, the locations you plan to visit (Rome, Florence, Rome, Amalfi) are not near great beaches, except for maybe the last one, which is one of the most beautiful spots on the Italian coast, but are very rocky and cliffy, so technically not really beaches but at best pebbly coves, if not just cliffs.
You also mentioned Teramo, which is not on the coast but in the interior of Abruzzo. Near Teramo there is Giulianova and also Roseto degli Abruzzi, which are nice beach resort towns with long sandy beaches with beach clubs and concessions of the Fort Lauderdale type where you can rent umbrellas and chairs. I don’t know if one could call those beaches particularly scenic, but for sure they will not be the absolute most beautiful in Italy for sure. You can do a Google Image search of those towns online and see if they are to your liking.
Spiaggia di Torre Chianca, Monterosso or
positano area?
We will be in Venice, Florence and Teramo areas and wanted to see a coastal beach area too.
I have been to Puglia, which has great beaches, but not to Torre Chianca. There are many great beaches in the Salento area of Puglia. It’s one of the best regions for spending time at the beach, possibly the best regions aside from the islands (Sardinia is definitely the best).. All you have to do is Google SALENTO BEACHES and you will get lots of hits, then you can decide based on where you plan to visit. Puglia is a very large region.
Monterosso is a village at the Cinque Terre. The Cinque Terre are beautiful, albeit often crowded given their popularity. Monterosso is the only village of the 5 which has a beach. It’s not a big one, and it is small pebbles rather than sand, but it’s nice. The water drops quickly and becomes very deep within very few feet from the shore so,make sure you know how to swim.
Positano itself has a small beach by the harbor called Spiaggia Grande (Great Beach), but not really that great in my opinion. The area is beautiful and there are some nice very small tiny coves nearby. They are very small pebble coves in between cliffs rather than beaches. If you do a google image search you can see what they look like. The most famous is probably the Fiordo di Furore (Furore’s Fiord).
From Teramo it's not far to the Gargano area of Puglia if you've got a car. Great beaches there - Vieste is one of my favourite places, especially the Scialara beach with Pizzomunno and Vieste perched on the headland to gaze it, but once again by car there are lots of beaches, coves etc you can reach
