I was advised to pack mosquito repellent for Venice. Is this necessary in the spring when the weather is cool, or just a warm weather issue?
Should not be a problem. If they are, just go to a farmacia and ask for a remedy. I always travel with little packets of Calagel which makes the itch go away quickly if you do get bitten.
My wife is incredibly sensitive to mosquito bites (they'll seek her out and completely leave me alone). We've been to Venice three times (in spring, summer and fall) and have never had problems with mosquitos. That being said, repellant is available in any pharmacy over there should they be an issue.
Yes, they are around. We sprang for a lovely room in May with a big terrace and lots of potted plants which the staff kept well watered....
