Mosaics covered up for winter at Ostia Antica?

I am just reading the Rome guidebook and it is mentioned that mosaics at Ostia is covered up for protection in the winter. It is not clear if this is done the entire winter or only when the weather is bad. Anyone can clarify this for me? Thank you!

I don't have an exact answer, but I did visit on a sunny day in December 2019 and most of the mosaics were covered.

Winter weather is very changeable. I was in Rome once in February when the city was covered in snow. A week or so later, it was warm and 60s, so I can't imagine they run around covering things up like during a tennis tournament. In fact there was hardly anyone around except for the ticket taker. I visited on a sunny day in February a number of years ago and some of the large mosaics were covered, still many of the mosaics were visible and that's only a small part of what awaits you at Ostia.

BTW all the mosaic floors are black and white.
