More transportation Siena to Monterosso?

Not driving & imagined a less convoluted trip via train or bus, but it seems not.
Does anyone know of a car service or tour/shuttle that would make this easier & less time consuming? Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks much.

Barbara, as you said "more", what transport options have you already looked at?

Just tossing this out for starters, I'm looking at a 9:18 AM - 11:03 AM train to Pisa Centrale with one change in Empoli: 1 hour and 45 minutes. Then an 11:42 AM train from there direct to Monterosso (no changes), arriving at 12:53 PM (1 hr and 11 minutes). That's not bad at all.

Taking just a quick glance at Siena>Florence> Monterosso, it looks to be faster though Pisa by an hour or so.

Kathy, I looked on Trenitalia, Rome2rio, italiarail for starters. Where are you seeing this info? Itโ€™s better than the schedules I accessed. Thanks for the help.

Hi back. :O)

Use the Trenitalia website ONLY. As I didn't have your exact dates, I used a dummy date of March 10th.
Departure station: Siena. Trains departing for Pisa Centrale around 9:00 AM
Pisa Centrale: trains departing for Monterosso 11:00 AM or later. Choose departure time with fewest changes/fastest time and /or shortest wait between trains.

Editing to add actual train numbers I'm seeing (could be different on a different date):
Siena 9:18 AM - Pisa Centrale 11:03. Regionale 23464 to Empoli, Regionale 23353 to Pisa
Pisa Centrale 11:42 AM - Monterosso 12:53. Intercity 670

You could pretty much just buy your tickets the day of travel...and they're inexpensive! The regionale trains won't have assigned seats and the prices won't change. The intercity train will have assigned seats but advance prices would only save you a couple of euro. I'd just buy the whole shootin' match in Siena on the day you want to do this.

Except that it takes longer to Monterosso from SM Novella.

Thank you both. I guess all the changes are what we will have to do. I was hoping there was a shuttle similar to the service we took from Cesky Krumlov in Czech Republic to Vienna. So easy, door to door & not expensive.

We used that CK shuttle as well
It was awesome
I wish there was something similar in Italy as well

I guess all the changes...

You'll only have two changes if you go through Pisa. Empoli is a small station, and you'll have plenty of time for the change in Pisa. With only 6 nights for this trip, you shouldn't have much luggage to deal with either so your changes shouldn't be difficult at all. While I understand you've been to Florence before, it would have been a more "central" location than the CT.

But you didn't mention what city you're flying out of?

Kathy, thanks for all the info. I put in my date, got the two departure times Iโ€™m interested in & now just wonder if I should buy tickets now or wait. Weโ€™ll be staying pretty close to the Duomo in Siena & the hotel suggested a taxi to & from the train station. Weโ€™re going on to France after CT...there IS a method to my madness ๐Ÿ˜‰

Barbara, as cheap as they are, I'd just wait. There's no benefit, really, to purchasing regionale tickets in advance as there are no assigned seats, and the intercity is a very inexpensive ticket that can be done as the same time as the regionale tickets.

LOL, if not a ๐Ÿฆ– like me, you can also buy them online, instead of at the station's ticket window or machines, on the morning of travel, if you're traveling with technology. Pretty sure that's what our Dario would tell you to do if he were here (although don't quote me on that.)

Yep, a taxi to the station in Siena would be a good idea as the train staton is outside the walls and down the hill below the town.

Kathy, you may be a self-described ๐Ÿฆ– but it doesnโ€™t show! Who knows...Delta May cancel our flights if this Coronavirus gets out of hand. Hoping not...for all. Thanks again.

Last May, one of our travel segments was the train from Florence to Monterosso through Pisa. It worked out very well. Actually, traveling on trains through Italy was far, far easier than I'd ever imagined.
