More train questions

Maybe it is a good thing I haven't been able to get a reservation yet. Questions were raised as to which train station. In Venice I will be in the Cannaregio district. Which train station should I be booking from? I will travel on May 12 to Florence and then on May 17 to Rome. As I said I would like to travel at about 10 AM on Fridays and think I should reserve in advance.

Name of main stations of Venice, Florence, Rome, respectively, are below. That's the ones you want.

VENEZIA SANTA LUCIA
FIRENZE SANTA MARIA NOVELLA
ROMA TERMINI

You don't have to reserve in advance, as seats don't sell out. At most they sell out the Standard class tickets (the lowest class) leaving a few minutes after you show up, but they will certainly have them in the next train one hour later.

The advantage of buying in advance is to snatch a SuperEconomy or Economy fare, which are deeply discounted over the Base (full) fare. Those discounted fares disappear as you approach the departure date (however I see them available now for May 12).

Just be aware however, that once you book a train at a SuperEconomy or Economy fare, not changes or refunds are possible. You are stuck with those tickets if you change your mind later or need to make changes.
