In June, we'll be heading to the Amalfi Coast from Abruzzo area by car, wanting to go to Ravello and Positano. However, one of our party cannot tolerate the winding roads of the coast and may need a place to stay somewhere in the vicinity, but not with a hair-raising car ride to get there. Any ideas?

Take the ferry from Naples or Sorrento to Positano and then on to Amalfi. There is a road closure between Positano and Amalfi .The views from the sea are the best on earth in my opinion, From the ferry dock in Amalfi take the bus up to Ravello.

They may want to just stay in Sorrento - getting to ravello or positano will involve driving the winding roads, there isn't a way around it.
