I'm traveling to Montisi with a group of knitters in late October/early November. Are there any "not to be missed" experiences special to that time of year?

I spent 3 nites in Montisi several years ago. It is a very small town ideally situated to explore the Crete Senesi with it's classic landscapes and iconic villages, Pienza, Asciano, San Giovanni d'Asso.... also abbeys Monte Oliveto Maggiore and San't Antimo. Autumn is prime time for truffles, and chestnuts. The vineyards should have turned to gold and red.
As for Montisi itself you should have a car as the bus only comes by once a day. There is a good bakery and a couple of good restaurants.
