monthly rentals Italy

Hello fellow travelers!
Does anyone have any experience renting a home in Italy or France? Having traveled a bit (on average 2 weeks at a time) we have decided to stay abroad for a month... still not sure on the location but somewhere around Florence seems to be a good base location for exploring other areas of Italy. Ive looked at all the online rental sites but was hoping for local (Italian) contacts if at all possible.

The agency Chianti and More( based in Panzano) includes rentals in Florence. We had an excellent experience renting a villa in Chianti from them.

You might look at www.sabbaticalhomes.com. Not a rental agency but a site for longer-term lets whose owners are, primarily, on sabbatical. You would deal directly with the owner.

Rented an apartment for a month in Florence with booking.com with excellent results. And just did a month in Paris in November 2023 with booking.com again excellent results. I am now two weeks into a month-long trip in Provence and again outstanding results with booking.com.

Thank You all for your input. I have checked out your ideas which have been helpful but I'm still looking. Has anyone been to Menton France?

For long term rentals (over one month) the sites Italians use the most are:
www.Immobiliare.it
www.idealista.it
www.Casaclick.it
You can select the English language option in all three. They also list short term rentals.

For short term (under 30 days) vacation rentals the most popular are:
www.casevacanza.it
www.airbnb.com
www.vrbo.com
www.wimdu.com

Note that the ones ending in .com also have the equivalent ending in .it (which will first appear in Italian, but have the option to switch to English). Sometimes I wonder if the site ending in .it (geared to Italians) has cheaper prices than the equivalent ending in .com (geared to non Italians). I would check both and see.

Note that Italian legislation makes a major distinction between one month rentals or less (called touristic rental) or over one month. The latter requires that the landlord sends the copy of the contract to the Italian Internal Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate). The former is likely to be advertised with a rental price per day or per week, and they may not be willing to give you a rental over 4 weeks, because of the aforementioned communication requirement to the tax authorities.
