My husband has never visited Cinque Terre and would like to see it in early September. I decided not to rent a car so we will travel by train from our home-base in Milan. I have reserved accommodations in Monterosso & Levanto but need to make a decision so I can cancel one. The place in Monterosso is on the hill, but the owner provides transportation from the train and reading reviews the steps are do-able. We also will travel light. The place in Levanto is close to the sea, a short train ride away. But the downside is, that it may not provide the same experience for him. It's been about 8 years since I've visited Cinque Terre and I only remember it was very crowded. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
