Taking our kids and spouses to Italy in June/July. Looking for lodging four nights
for six adults in Monterosso. Think apartment would work best. But other suggestions
very welcome. We'd train from Venice but haven't decided on departure city to return
to Seattle.
John,
I never use apartments so can't provide any suggestions on those. The only hotel that I know of that has larger rooms is Hotel Villa Adriana, which can provide family rooms for up to five. You could possibly book a family room for four along with a double? If you have a larger budget and want to splurge you could also look at Hotel Porto Roca (which also has a gorgeous pool overlooking the ocean).
You'll have to contact both properties (or others) to see what options they can suggest for your group configuration. As they're probably closed for the season right now, you may not get a reply right away. You may find some suggestions in the RS Italy guidebook.
In the same situation, I'd probably book three doubles at either Hotel Villa Steno or Hotel Pasquale but both of those hotels are very popular so it might be difficult to get three rooms. Booking any lodgings in Monterosso needs to be done as early as possible!
Good luck!
Our family of six stayed in this beautiful apartment in Monterosso in July 2014, rented through VRBO - https://www.vrbo.com/475435?utm_source=sy&utm_medium=email&utm_term=20131120&utm_content=prop_text_t_LPROP&utm_campaign=InqiryConfirmation#calendar Three bedrooms, and three terraces with amazing views of the sea and the villages. Looking at the calendar there is very little availability in June and July - you will want to make your lodging plans soon, as lodging, especially for six, fills up fast in this area. It was a steep hike up the hill to get to this apartment, but we enjoyed working off some of the food and wine that we enjoyed each evening! Beautiful, free, beach at the bottom of the hill. This was one of the most beautiful places we stayed in our five weeks of travel in Italy and Greece, and it was wonderful to have so much space to spread out, and cook simple meals in once in a while.
