Monterosso al Mare lodging choice

Hello,
I need to choose between a room for 3 adults at Locanda Il Maestrale and Stella Della Marina in Monterosso al Mare. They are both highly rated on tripadvisor and booking.com. It sounds like the room at Locanda Il Maestrale is larger, but it is also about 50 euros per night more expensive.

Any experience with either of these places?

Thanks!

I have stayed at Locanda Il Maestrale with friends and family in 2005 and 2007 and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay but keep in mind it was a long time ago. The rooms were very comfortable although both rooms I've stayed in had small bathrooms which certainly wasn't a problem. All the staff were helpful and friendly and breakfast was a delight on the terrace overlooking the "road". The triple room we (3 ladies) had in 2007 was beautiful, the upstairs loft bed was very comfortable but I did not sleep well on the downstairs sofa hide-a-bed.

I second Il Maestrale. We have stayed there three times, and plan to stay again in 2017. Giovanni and Stefania, the owners/host are wonderful. Giovanni makes the best cappuccinos! Right in the heart of old town, close to everything.

Thanks for your input! I really appreciate it.

Anyone else have experience at either of these places?

We were on the waiting list for Hotel Pasquale and a room opened up for our dates. So, we switched to Hotel Pasquale. Thanks again for your help!

twg,

Good choice! Hotel Pasquale is wonderful, and very easy to get to. If you're travelling by train, it's just on the other side of the tunnel in the old town (an easy walk from the station).

We stayed at Hotel Pasquale last month and had a wonderful time. I thought the room we stayed in (room 11) was a decent size. It was clean and modern. The staff were friendly, helpful and wonderful. The location was excellent in old town. Close to shops, restaurants and easy walk to train station. The tourist boat to other towns is right outside the door of the hotel. I believe most of the rooms have a sea view. The breakfast was excellent, probably the best I've had on 3 trips to Italy. You will enjoy your time.
