Could anyone suggest a good local restaurant serves pasta and pesto and other classic Italian
Thanks so much

Ristorante Miky is wonderful; specializing in seafood, naturally

Agree with the above suggestion. Would like to add Gastronomia San Martino as well only about 8 seats, but they do take too. Try the panzotto with walnut sauce!! Octopus salad also very good. Polenta and rabbit as well.
Randy & Linda,
When are you planing to be there? There's a good selection of restaurants in Monterosso (spelling is important, especially when buying train tickets). Some that you could try.....
- Cantina di Miky (in the new town, a few doors down from the rail station.... they have an outside patio overlooking the beach and the ocean which is really nice.... the owners are wonderful - http://www.cantinadimiky.it/ )
- Miky (towards the far end of the new town..... a more upscale restaurant, owned by the same family as the Cantina.... seems to offer a lot of seafood but be sure to budget accordingly - http://www.ristorantemiky.it/ )
- Ristorante Belvedere (in the old town overlooking the beach..... they often get really busy in the evenings to the point where the servers are running so get there early - http://www.ristorante-belvedere.it/en/index.html )
- Ristorante L' Alta Marea (in the old town, partway up Via Roma.... I've always found the food and the service to be great, and it's often busy..... I always enjoy the Trofie al Pesto there..... they don't appear to have a website so this will have to do - https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurant_Review-g187820-d2172397-Reviews-Ristorante_L_Alta_Marea-Monterosso_al_Mare_Cinque_Terre_Italian_Riviera_Liguria.html ).

We will be there in April. Thanks for taking the time for the great suggestions.

Porto Roca for the view, if you don't mind the price tag.
Another vote for Cantina di Miky.
