Montepulciano - where to stay

Will be here in late september for 5 nights for our honeymoon (we are early 30s, love wine, and are fairly active). We will have a car, so need a place to park. We would like to be walkable to town or in town itself, so we can enjoy wine at dinner and not worry about driving. We definitely would like a romantic place that has beautiful grounds and/or views. Ideally under $200 USD per night but depending on locations and amenities we could spend more. Part of us would love a villa with vineyards around us and views of the city, but we would like to be able to walk into the city within 15 minutes. If that isnt possible, a hotel or B&B with great views/terrace would work well. Any recommendations that are anywhere near what we are looking for would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much in advance

Camere Bellavista is in the historical district, and it was wonderful. Great view of the beautiful Tuscan hills. Close to restaurants, shopping and the Piazza Grande. They have free parking for guests. We went there in 2013. Rick Steves recommendation, and it was great for us.

Also, the Hotel Duomo Montepulciano also has parking available and right in the historical district.

Both places are wonderful.

We stayed at Meuble il Riccio , also in the historic district, and not only is it one of Rick's recommendation, we met him there! It is right off the main square at the top of the hill, and the hosts, Gio and Ivana are wonderful. They also have free parking for their guests. We had a room with a balcony and the views overlooking the countryside were amazing. There are many restaurants and wine bars in the area. Getting to the parking for the hotels at the top can be a bit challenging the first time, but after that it's no problem and was well worth the effort. A very popular restaurant near the hotel is Aquacheta, http://www.acquacheta.eu. It is listed in Rick's and many other guide books, Trip Advisor, etc. It is known for huge pieces of Florentine beefsteak, and a kind of party, but brusque atmosphere. It has 2 seatings for dinner. Another restaurant, totally different was Rosso Rubino, also nearby. That was more intimate, and with delicious food. You can see reviews on Trip Advisor.

We stayed in an apartment so can't help on the hotels but definitely get one in the historic center within the walls.

There are lots of good restaurants. We had a wonderful meal at the restaurant across from the beautiful church San Biagio -- Risstorante la Grotta. It was the best meal we had in Montepulciano in our two weeks there. We also enjoyed eating outside under the stars at Godimento Divino.

We stayed here in Montepulciano about 8 years ago.https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g194833-d1412375-Reviews-Osteria_del_Borgo-Montepulciano_Tuscany.html It is at the very top of the hill that the town is built on. The views from your windows are stunning and the food served on the terrace (and the wine) are amazing. We arranged a half day wine tour through a little place literally 50 ft away from the hotel. The Duomo is a very short walk. They did have parking for us. It is one of our favorite places in all of Italy. It isn't very large and so the earlier you book the more likely they can accommodate you.

I've stayed twice at Meuble il Riccio and loved it. They gave us a paper with the directions to the parking that we didn't find an issue with .

I would forget about the villa thought and relish the unique charm of staying inside a walled city
Since the city is higher up your views will be better anyway

Another vote for Albergo Duomo. Great location and just a few doors from a wonderful restaurant, Osteria del Conte. Montepulciano is a great base!
