Montepulciano to train station on a Sunday

Hello everyone,

I’m hoping somebody can assist here.

I booked accommodation in Montepulciano for a Saturday night in June. I then need to get from Montepulciano to Rome on the Sunday using public transport.

I’ve been use Google Maps and the Trenitalia website and it looks like the trains run on a Sunday, but I can’t find a way to get from Montepulciano to the train station (either Chiusa or Montepulciano) on a Sunday?

The solutions I’m thinking of if there is no bus etc:

1) Walk from Montepulciano to the train station, with all my stuff. Around 9 kilometres on a road.
2) Hire a car in Florence when I’m there and explore the Tuscan countryside with it. The car will stay overnight at my accommodation in Siena, then the next night in Montepulciano, then drop the car off in Rome. But doing this I need to work out all the ZTL areas etc.

Surely there will be a few people in summer in June in Montepulciano needing to leave on a Sunday and there’s a solution?

Can anyone assist?

Thank you,

Matt

Have your accommodations arrange a taxi

Have you asked your accommodations for clarification on bus and how to get to station?

I would contact your accommodation for their advice. Be sure to also ask how dependable the train is running on a Sunday.

I have taken the handy bus to/from Montepulciano to Chuisi to catch the train, but that was on a weekday.

When you do arrive in Montepulciano by bus, go into the small shop and purchase a couple of tickets for the little orange shuttle bus that will take you up, up into the old center. It has a few stops - very handy!
