Montepulciano? (not just wine tasting)

Hi. Working on our Tuscany trip for early October and looks like 2 nights in Montepulciano would fit nicely, but I'm having a devil of a time finding info on things to do there besides just wine tours. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Kimberly

Enjoy walking all around the town, dining in its restaurants. There is a lot of this beautiful town to explore. Just like the other Tuscan and Umbrian towns, visit churches, markets, viewpoints.

Plenty to do in Montepulciano. We enjoyed walking the town with our tour group. Beautiful area. One of our favorite stops was at Bottega de Rama to observe artisan Coppersmith Cesare. Several of us were celebrating anniversaries. We all purchased a “grape wine vessel” & had it shipped home. We used Montepulciano as our base for 2 weeks to visit the Hill towns of Tuscany. We liked going to cafes for espresso in the morning before some light grocery shopping. There were many good dining experiences for the evening. There is a language school in town and I know some American teachers went to it. We enjoyed it and would go back again. Suzanne

My husband and I will be enjoying 3 nights in Montepulciano in May. We will only have a car for two of the days because we have to return it on a Saturday morning since the car rental is closed on Sundays. We will be staying at Osteria Del Borgo B&B and have a reservation at Santa Gulia for their wine tasting and lunch (about a 35 minute trip west).

Enjoy! We love that area so much we have stayed twice for a week each time. We did the lunch and wine at Santa Gulia and it was wonderful. The Val D'Orcia drive was my favorite- it is the stuff of postcards. They had monastery with chanting monks when we visited around 2016 but they had relocated to France when we went 2 years later. With just 2 nights in Tuscany I would highly recommend renting a car and doing Rick's Val D'Orcia drive. It is beautiful.
