Hello,
I have a free day to explore a combination of these three from my base in Siena. It looks like I can either take a tour from ItalyXP that covers all three, or I can tour two of the three by public transportation. I would prefer not to rent a car. My questions are the following: Has any taken the tour of from ItalyXP? If not a tour, which two of the three would you choose?
Your insights are greatly appreciated.

All I can say it took quite a while driving from Greve in Chianti to Montepulciano however once there we found it enchanting and loved every minute of the trip however the thought of driving back (lots of switch back roads, beautiful if not driving) made us leave with plenty of sunshine to get back in time for dinner.

If you're planning on drinking wine, a tour is best. Limits in Italy are much lower than here.
Buses will limit how many towns you can visit, with return times set more for school children and workers.
