Montepulciano agriturismo il greppo

Has anyone stayed at Il Greppo in Montepulciano? We are looking to stay in Tuscany in July and would appreciate any advice. Thank you!

See if they're listed in Tripadvisor.com. Just about every Italian town has ratings on hotels and alternative accommodations. You just have to figure out on where you want to stay. Some great places are just 20 miles south of Florence, and the hill top towns like Volterra are great day trips. In Tuscany, just about every farm and vineyard is a bed and breakfast or agriturismo's (100's of them.) Some are nicer than others, but they're generally very good places to stay. E70 is the lower end of the price range. AirBnB.com, Hotel.com, Villas.com and Venere.com have incredible numbers of Agriturisimos/bed and breakfasts to stay in. www.agriturismo.net is another website. You're from Seattle where temperatures are pretty cool. I warn you that Italy in July is very hot, and their a/c is often inadequate or nonexistent. Popular tourist sites are also very crowded. If you can go earlier in the year, it would be much more pleasant. We usually go the last day of March, as flight fares especially increase on April 1st and June 1st. Good luck, as Tuscany is a glorious place to visit.

We spent a week at La Falconara in Montepulciano. Loved everything about it! The owners, Alex and Ingrid made us feel like family rather than guests. They gave many suggestions on places to visit and restaurants to eat at that I don't think we would have found on our own. Everything we wanted to see was no more than a 60-90 minute drive from La Falconara. www.lafalconara.it

As the previous posters have noted there are plenty of Agriturismos (farm houses converted into B&B) in Tuscany. As of December 2009, ISTAT (the Italian National Statistics Agency) has published a report that the number of Agriturismos present in the Region of Tuscany totaled 4,002. That's over 17 per 100 square Km. The second highest density in Italy. In addition to the websites given above, www.agriturismo.it is another one with plenty of choices. Many agriturismos actually appear in German websites only (Germans are addicted to the Agriturismos). I'm going to inquire with some friends in Italy who have agriturismos and I'll post those websites here in the next couple of days. As stated above, if you choose to go in July, you'll be dealing with high prices (the highest prices are from mid July to end of August) and scorching temperatures. May is the most beautiful month (weatherwise) in Tuscany, long days, sunny and warm but not unbearably hot. If you must go to Italy when schools are closed (because you have children in school) I suggest you go as early as possible in June, as soon as kids are out of school.
