I'm curious to know if anyone has been there to spend even just a few hours. I am thinking of making it a stop to locate relatives, but when I look at it through Google maps street view it's pretty disappointing. I guess the little village of chestnuts was pretty wiped out after the war. Sigh. And what's the word on Naples (as an aside) I can't believe it's as awful as people say. Don't I want to go there?
Oh, dear. Here we go with the ever-recurring Naples argument. I'll try to summarize it neutrally as follows: Some people really enjoy Naples as a grittier version of Italy. Others find it disgusting and think there are more enjoyable parts of Italy to visit. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to travel. And now, here we go.....
Thanks. I'm most interested in information from anyone who may have been to Montella. The question about Naples was really just an aside for anyone who wanted to share their +/- experience. I'm going anyway, but was interested in the anecdotes. No need to open a big discussion. I already "get" the gist of the larger conversation.
