MONTECANTINI, Italy

Hi, we are planning an 9 day trip to MONTECANTINI, Italy. Flying into Milan. Would love some suggestions on day trips. Perhaps a winery along the way. Would appreciate suggestions other than Florence since we have already visited there and Luca.

. Our heritage is Genoa, so we would also love to visit. We do have a car, but realize a train would probably be easier.

Thanks so much!

I loved Barga, loved San Miniato. Triple love Lerici-Tellaro-Montemarcello area. Have Pistoia, Pietrasanta on my list.
For your trip to Genoa, I would look for a train station en route with easy parking to make your trip easier.
If you were planning on driving from Milan, I would take the train south and then pick up the car. That would be a nice time to maybe plan your Genoa visit.

Sounds like a great trip! If it makes sense to rent and return at the Milan airport (I assume it’s Malpensa) do so - you’ll have autostrada / motorway / interstate highways to get around Milan toward where you’re going. For Genoa, I agree, park before you get there. Find a convenient suburb that has a train station and parking lot, park there, and ride the train into the city. If you do go back into Florence you can do something similar with the big parking lot right off the A1 highway that’s next to the Tram 1 terminus - park there and ride the tram into town. Good luck!
