Does anyone know of a really nice hotel or inn within an hour to Cassino. preferably out of town and with some charm.

I don't believe that Monte Cassino is covered in the RS guidebooks, so you'll have to check Lonely Planet or some of the others. Trip Advisor or one of the other sites should also provide lots of ideas for really nice hotels in that area. As you're requesting "preferably out of town", I assume you'll have a rental car? If that's the case, I assume you're aware of the usual caveats regarding driving in Italy.

We stayed at a wonderful b&b country house about 8 miles north of Casino. I tried to find the name, but couldn’t. Sorry. But we found it via Booking.com. I’d also look at Tripadvisor. There are lots of nice places in the area.
