Ever been to Monte Argentario? Recommend? Hotel to recommend?

Yes I have been and recommend Mt. Argentario. I don't have a hotel to recommend but the town of Porto Santo Stefano is a good place to start searching.

It's a lovely area. When are you planning to go? I agree with Roberto's recommendation of Porto Santo Stefano. A day spent on the island of Giglio is nice, but overnight on the mainland.
