Rented and apartment in Orvieto and will be driving to Monte Argentario for the day. Any suggestions? Easiest beach to reach?
Porto Santo Stefano or Porto Ercole? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Either town is about the same distance from Orvieto, i.e. Over 2 hour drive each way.
I prefer Porto Santo Stefano, although both are nice. The beaches are not in town proper (that is where the harbor is), however there are several nice ones along the entire Argentario peninsula, and some are really close to both Porto Santo Stafano and Porto Ercole. Take a peek:

Thanks Roberto. I love the link - very useful information. I have been to Cinque Terre and Sorrento/Amalfi coast and thought this would be a nice area to explore.
