Has anyone traveled from France to Italy over Mont Blanc? I am in the very beginning stages of planning a trip in France and Italy. From Aosta how far is it by train to Venice?

Its about the same distance as driving or any other transport, about 451 km. If you meant how long, it is about 6 and a half to 7 hours with, usually, 2 changes. All this is available using the Bahn's website which is explained in the sticky at the top of the page.

I drove from Chamonix to Turino 2 years ago. It was a nice drive, but there are an incredible number of tunnels to go through and there were quite a few tolls so it does add up.
