I'm trying to reserve tickets to Monreale Cloister and Roof Terraces for the end of December which I know is rather far out. I do have a reserved time slot but can pay only with a bank transfer according to the cathedral site which is rather complicated. I am wondering if there is another way such as just showing up on December 31 hoping to be able to buy tickets on the spot. I'd appreciate any help you can give me including the popularity of the sight and crowds/lines. TIA
I have been there twice and each time bought tickets right there with no problem and not much of a line to get the tickets. The cloisters are serenely beautiful and worth the visit. There were people wandering around but they were not crowded either time ( months of March and September). The church itself had far more tourists, lots of group tours but it is large and did not feel overly crowded. I did not go up to the roof but my friends did. I also very much enjoyed exploring the streets around the Cattedrale. Of course there are lots of typical souvenir shops but there are also places where you can watch artisans creating art and jewelry with mosaics.
Thanks, Pat! Much appreciated. The less I am locked into a certain time and day, the better.
