No need to book. Candidly, I don't think there were any tickets needed-visited it three times with Grandsons on separate trips.

Camille, after I visited the Monreale Cathedral a few years ago, I found a small mosaic workshop on the street behind the Cathedral, or very close to that street. I believe the family works on repairs to the mosaics in the church, when needed, and also creates various sized and themed mosaics for sale in their shop. I bought a lovely, very small mosaic, about 2 x 3 inches, with about 200-300 tiny pieces and a simple wood frame, a scene of the cathedral, which I just love. It’s on the windowsill by my easy chair, and I enjoy it all the time, including right now. Of course I really adore and appreciate mosaics! One of my favorite “souvenirs” of Italy. Not cheap, I think I paid about 65 euros, but certainly local, unique and beautiful. Think of all the euros you saved by just learned that admission to the Cathedral is free!

I was just there two weeks ago (early April). No need to pre-book. There is a charge to enter, and there is a ticket desk inside a door in the "corner" of the large piazza. We bought "combination" tickets that included the beautiful cloister. From the ticket desk, you walk back outside into the piazza and around the corner to the right to enter the cathedral.
