Looking for options to get from Monopoli to the Bari airport on Monday, April 3. We find lots of train options to Bari Centrale but are having trouble getting from Bari Centrale to the airport by public transportation. We've searched Trenitalia, Rome2Rio, and Trainline. We are finding all the public transportation options get us to the airport too late for a flight at noon on British Airways. Rome2Rio suggests BlaBla car which is a ride share service. The app says that as of right now, there are no rides scheduled for that day. Is the best option a taxi from Bari Centrale to the airport? If a taxi is the best option, what should we expect to pay? Thanks!
I've taken a taxi from the airport to Bari old town twice, I don't recall what the taxi price was--it was not significant and I would not give it a second thought. But there is definitely a train and a bus--it is just that there are several different companies in Puglia. Check here: https://bari.airports.aeroportidipuglia.it/en/
There is also a taxi rate summary on the website--looks like Centrale falls into 23 euro zone.
Rome2Rio tries to make too many things at the same time.
If you don't enter a time of travel on trenitalia.com/en.htm the site defaults to the time on your system. There is Trenitalia station in Monopoli, the first direct to Bari departs at4:41 AM, the last one at 10:27 PM. There is a train to Bari every 30 minutes or so.
Even if the airport train is run by a separate company, You can put "Bari Aeroporto Karol-something" in the "TO" field on trenitalia.com . This way you can see how much a through ticket from Monopoli costs and how long it takes. Ignore the "2 changes": once in Bari, simply follow the signs to the building where airport trains stop and you are done.
This is another example of the limitations of Rome2Rio.
There is an airport train from Bari Centrale to Bari airport. It runs frequently, takes16 minutes for the journey, and costs €5,20 per person. It is run by a private company, so it may not show up on Trenitalia.

There is an advisory note on the website about April 3, however. It looks like a new schedule comes out, but I am not sure that I translated it correctly. This page shows the new schedule beginning 3 April:
https://www.ferrovienordbarese.it/orari
https://www.ferrovienordbarese.it/tmp/downloads/Orario_2023_04_Bari_Barletta_Pari.pdf
Note that only the grey FR2 line serves the airport.
Or you could take a taxi from the taxi stand outside Bari Centrale.
Edit: maybe Dario can take a look at the advisory note and confirm that it is about a schedule revision starting 3 April.
How long are you staying in Monopoli? We were there in February on a daytrip from Lecce and really liked the town. My husband even went for a swim.
Lola, Dario, and valadelphia,
Thank you so much! We were just so confused - I think the change in schedule was part of the confusion! Lola - this is for a friend who is visiting me for part of my 5-week stay in Italy. We are in Lecce now (and loving it!). Then on to Monopoli with 2 more stops after that :).
Thanks,
Sharon
Make sure you get out for the evening passeggiata in Lecce, especially along Via Vittorio Emmanuele in the old town. It is delightful, with happy people, and the buildings so beautifully lit.
You read my mind - I'm off to do exactly that right now! :)
I love Puglia..and Lecce is such a visual treat! As far as the transport..I hired private driver to and from Bari airport to Lecce ast summer. Very professional and their timing was perfect. It gave me peace of mind..the road is a straight shot and and excellent hiway.
Ps..I realize you said Monopoli..I would still do private transfer..just IMHO
