Moneybelts

Hi,
Going to take Rick's advice on a Money belt. Can anyone recommend a brand that has worked well for you.
Thank You

I use the belt that Rick sells. Get a new one each time I sign up for a tour....
Have worn this style of money best for years and years of travel. When I get home
I empty it out and toss it in the washer and dryer - nice and clean for next time....

The Civita Hidden Pocket design has a downside, depending on how you use the loops. If you have to remove your belt going through security, it could slip down into your pants without your noticing and after a few steps it drops out at your feet. I'm absolutely not saying this happened to me on a trip to China when I had $1000. in cash in the darn thing.

You can also find moneybelts at Target, Walmart, etc. in the luggage/travel section.

I use the silk one that is sold in the RS store here. It is easy to wash after a sweaty day of hiking and dries almost instantly. It also seems to have fewer "sharp" edges than the other one. It is much better for me comfort wise than the other one sold in the RS store. The silk money belt also used to be the one included with your tour package you automatically received when you booked a RS tour. They changed to the cheaper one a few years ago and of course now you have to purchase your own because they don't send one.

I have used a few brands...what works for me is COTTON and has an interior zippered pocket with an exterior velcro closure flap....I put my passport in a thin plastic sandwich bag, and put extra cc and cash inside. This way the passport and cc, bulk of cash cannot fall out when I reach in for my "day cash" of 200 Euros or so.

If you have women traveling with you look up BRA STASH...it should have 2 straps with 2 snaps and I use mine for my daily cash and one cc.... and I only fasten it on one bra strap...then tuck it under arm into side of bra...this stays put and you won't feel it...take it out as needed with peace of mind because no one can grab it and run away....put the other items under clothing in belt....

Besides a moneybelt, I also wear a travel vest: The material is not heavy and easily rinses out in the hotel sink.

I keep my passport, backup credit card and extra cash in the moneybelt. Items that I don't need immediately.
I put the credit card I'm using in one pocket of the vest.
Cash for the day in another pocket. Cell phone in a different pocket.
I spread out my valuables into different pockets and locations. The not all your eggs in one basket approach.
I wear a cross-body strap purse under the vest which is sort of the decoy. I only have snacks, tissues, pen, small notebook and stuff like that in it.

Pickpockets do size you up. We were in Placa de Catalunya. I noticed a lady looking our way then she walked on. Instead, she went and harassed two English ladies on a bench eating lunch.

I've never liked the money belts that are positioned in front of you. Instead, I use this: https://www.amazon.com/Shacke-Hidden-Travel-Wallet-Blocker/dp/B00Z2AKO3G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495497192&sr=8-1&keywords=Shacke+Hidden+Travel+Belt+Wallet
I run the loop through my belt then slip the whole thing down the side of my trousers. As a middle aged male with a, shall we say, portly frame, I can carry quite a bit of stuff in there without it being in the way when I sit down. For obvious reasons, my belt is on fairly tight so the chances of someone sliding this wallet out unnoticed are pretty slim.

My husband uses a money pocket which is so much more comfortable than a money belt.
